Die britische Sängerin WENDY BEVAN debütiert mit düster-melancholischen cold wave Songs inspiriert von Bands wie Suicide, Siouxsies & The Banshees und Joy Division.

Wendy Bevan ist eine britische Sängerin/Musikerin, Performance/Visual-Künstlerin und Fotografin, die ihr Publikum hypnotisiert, inspiriert und verblüfft. Eine Visionärin, deren Liebe für Theatralik in all ihren Werken präsent ist. Mit ihrer surrealen, ätherischen und theatralischen Ästhetik verfolgt sie einen ganz eigenen Stil mit multidisziplinären Ansatz. Schon als Lead-Sängerin ihrer Band Temper Temper hat sie Musik, Performance und Visuals miteinander verbunden. Wendy Bevan hat für Vogue, I-D, Harpers Bazaar, Muse Magazine, The Independent etc photografiert und eigene Ausstellungen gemacht. Sie hat mit Theatercompanies wie zB PunchDrunk performed und mit Producern wie Paul Simm (Neneh Cherry/Amy Winehouse) und Howie B (Björk/Tricky) zusammengearbeitet.

Im September 2016 wird "Rose & Thorn", ihr Debütalbum auf Kwaidan Records veröffentlicht. Ihr neuestes, musikalisches Soloprojekt wurde von Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague) produziert. Inspiriert von Heroes wie Suicide, Siouxsies & The Banshees und Joy Division wurden die minimalen Synths vor allem auf einem 8 Jupiter und mit Vintage-Drum-Maschines aufgenommen. Die Live Strings wurden vom avantgardistischen Balanescu Streichquartett arrangiert und eingespielt.

Wendy Bevan feiert die Theatralik des Gothic. Inhaltlich geht es um die Komplexität der Weiblichkeit vor dem Hintergrund des modernen Urbildes weiblicher Identität. Mit religiöser Inbrunst singt sie in Sweet Dedication “Find me salvation / give me some meaning / burn down the houses / where once I lay dreaming” und erklärt “Sweet Dedication” is a confessional song I wrote after reading the Book of Lies by Aleister Crowley. Seeped within my own broken, psychic odyssey’s and hallucinations, a theatrical landscape of shattered dreams; the song mimics the notion of madness, guilt and compulsion. Faith, Hope and Joy are a devotional representation of Babalon; all one physical manifestation of the same feminine principle. These Scarlet Women, live within all of us and metaphorically represent the female sexual impulse.’
